Today, these collection with a broader purpose: to preserve, study, document, and share objects whose significance extends beyond their physical beauty to the histories, artistic traditions, and cultural environments they represent.

Three large works and four small ones, they carry a story that stretches from Paris in the year of Vietnam's first diplomatic overtures to the world, through decades of quiet safekeeping in Hanoi, to a new custodian in the twenty-first century.
